A niche is not a logo category. It is a group of buyers who share a repeated and expensive problem.
Start with access. Which industries can you speak with this week? Then look for workflows that happen often, involve several handoffs, and create a visible cost when they fail. Lead qualification, document processing, reporting, follow-up, internal search, and client onboarding are useful examples, but the right answer comes from conversations rather than a list.
Interview at least ten people before committing to a complicated build. Ask how the work happens today, where it slows down, what errors cost, who owns the budget, and what a successful change would be worth. Do not lead with AI. Lead with the workflow.
Your first offer should solve one problem for one buyer with one clear result. That constraint makes your marketing easier, your delivery repeatable, and your case studies more credible.
